Sick & Snow Days... 12.03.13

The last couple days have been pretty mellow around The Holmes household… Calli has been a little under the weather I have had the privilege of spending the last two days at home with her.  Games, coloring, making Christmas gifts, wrapping them, laundry and work have occupied our days.  She was so excited to see the huge snowflakes she was jumping for joy!!! Then, "Mom, can we go outside and play?" as she realized that was not going to happen.  Here's to healthier day to come!

What a wonderful day! As I sit and reflect on all the things to be thankful for the list continues to grow as I type. My darling husband is pretty close to the top of the list… he has a great sense of humor and continues to amuse me day after day! The kids… whom we love with all of our hearts and are so blessed to be able to teach and guide them everyday! Our parents, with their love and support we have been able to achieve things that we never thought would be possible!  To our loving family members, we are thankful for the time that we get to spend with you!

Today we were able to spend some time with Kurt's Mom & Sister.  They came to our house and spent the day laughing and eating!  Here are a few photos from the day… Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, With love… The Holmes'

Pumpkins - 10.25.13

Friday, October 25, We stopped to get pumpkins to carve for Halloween.  Calli fed the goats and that was probably her favorite thing to do that afternoon.  Along with the pumpkins and goats we purchased our first squash for the season and was that delicious or what!

Calli was so excited to carve her pumpkin for the first time this year!  She laid out the paper on the about 2 hours before we started carving.  Here are some fun photos of the evening!

Halloween - 10.31.13

Halloween was so much fun!  We met up with Lala Loopsy and her family and friends!  

Calli, Grace and her cousins & friends joined in the trick-or-treat festivities!

After all the running around was done, everyone went back to the

 LaBeau's for birthday cake for Becky's Birthday!!

Cole's Surgery - 10.07.13

Cole & Kurt arrived at the Northfield Hospital at 7:00am on Monday, October 7th.

 He went in for surgery at around 8:30am, finishing around 9:45pm.  

Heading home around 12:30pm

The staff said that you did great!  A little fuzzy from the anesthesia, they rolled you about 11am.

Subway for lunch... and a lot of rest!  The next 2 days you would relax and recover.

Back to school on Wednesday... You care such a strong young man!  

You have never complained about the pain or having to get help with things.  

We are glad that you are on the road to recovery and you will be stronger than ever!!!

October 4, 2013 we went to the Homecoming game at STA.  Cole enjoyed the game with his friends!

This was Calli's first football game.  

She enjoyed, skittles, hotdog, popcorn and Gatorade.  

She also got a bear before the game and named him "E".

The weather was great until the second half when it started to heavy mist/rain. 

We enjoyed watching the first half and half time show filled with fire works and a great performance from the VISTA band. ( Calli's favorite part of the night!)

Looking forward to next year already!!!

This evening we met in Eden Prairie before the Homecoming dance.  The Burke's were kind enough to open their home for over 60 students.  They had dinner from Bucca and took pictures while dodging the rain.  We enjoyed visiting with the parents and seeing the smile on your face!!! We are very happy that you are able to experience these events with such wonderful people!

Cole was riding the go cart on Sunday afternoon, the steering went out, the go cart hit a sign.  You were thrown from the go cart and broke your collar bone.  4-6 weeks with the sling and we are here to help you with whatever you need to heal properly!  Take it easy Cole E, we want to help you!

The Visitation Homecoming dance was a lot of fun for Cole and his friends.  We met with his friend Ryan and his parents in Bloomington before dropping off the boys in Edina. There were about 40 kids meeting at the home.  
They had dinner, took picture and hung out before the dance. 
 After the dance Cole and his friends went to an after party in Mendota Heights.  

What a fun night for the kids!

Cole's First Day of School - 08.26.13

10th Grade - STA

This first day of school is like no other in our house.  Cole's morning ride to school starts at 6:50 and ends at 7:15 in Mendota Heights at St. Thomas Academy.  In the morning, Cole and Dad leave the house and travel us Hwy 52.  He spends the day at The Academy and in the afternoon I make my way up to get him and bring him home.  We really enjoy the time we get to spend with Cole as we travel, and as excited as he is to get his license, we will miss that time with him in the car!!!

Jumping for joy!!!  School starts today!  Calli is very excited to start school today!
She enjoys learning!  Our conversation this morning before school... "Mom, what time does the bell ring to start school?"  "Calli, the first bell rings at 8:15"  "Mom, what time do I start learning?"
